tvcameramen.com is back
by David Hands
tvcameramen.com is back. I have wanted to say this line for a long time now, and I can honestly say that I am totally thrilled to be able to say it. tvcameramen.com is back.
So where have we been?
Well, to put it very simply, tvcameramen.com was all voluntary and non-profit and it just became too big to handle. As we are all freelance cameramen here we also needed to make a living with our real jobs, so the website sat in the back seat.
So what is different now?
Well, now tvcameramen.com has some paid features. These paid features are what will keep the website going but of course with the same love and commitment we always had. With an income we are able to pay full time people to work on the website.
Why you may ask?
Honestly all of us here at tvcameramen.com and many of you believe that tvcameramen.com is an invaluable source of information in our fast changing field. It provides us with a place to share, learn, grow and improve in what we love doing. We always believed in tvcameramen.com which is why we continued paying for a server even though it was not being updated. We just did not have the heart to pull the plug on it.
So what’s new?
Well, first of all, the entire layout. Our old layout served us well but in the year 2006 it looked out of date and tired.
There is a directory now for cameramen and Production houses. A place where cameramen can have information about their work and were future clients can book them for the next shoot.
We have a place to buy items that interest cameramen and cameramen only.
We all need them and we all search for them. The resources page promises to be the place to find that odd camera manual or a good glossary and ...
All our old favourites are still there,
Articles and news about our work, profiles of cameramen and images are just a few of the items that will appear on the Articles page.
The Screw-ups page full of mistakes and funny incidents that we all went through.
The Equipment Reviews where we test equipment without any interference from the manufacturers. What we see is what we tell.
Equipment news, just to keep us informed with all the new goodies out there that we all wished we had the money to buy. The news is as provided by the manufactures and it is not a form of advertising, just a form of information
Tips & Tricks. We all know them!!!!
And a lot more; explore!!!!
