tvcameramen.com is an online magazine aimed exclusively for the working camera operator. All the people involved in tvcameramen.com are professional cameramen who still work in the industry. Among the shooting and editing days we try very hard to find time to edit, write and publish the website.
Our Mission is to be able to provide non-bias information about our industry. To be able to provide under one roof, all things that are related to camera work. That includes articles, interviews, links, news, equipment reviews, job opportunities, classified advertisements and much more.
Running the website is not only time consuming but also expensive. And since the website has thousands of visitors we came to the conclusion that the website must have an income. This income is used to pay of expenses, wages and fees.
But we want to keep the contents of the website free. After all, this is what the WWW is all about. So we came up with the idea of membership. As a member one has extra benefits and belongs to a like-minded group.
Through the membership section we aim to provide a community amongst us, so we would never be alone. From the occasional opinion and advice to more serious help in hand, we can all be together. This does not mean competition, but rather cooperation.
Some of the extra benefits for members are job postings, email alerts, a listing in a directory and most importantly being part of a community
We also plan to publish a yearly world directory with important information regarding the industry; all members will have their name published to be contacted by others when in their country. This may not be possible before 2007
Things we are working on to add for members
- To provide a discounted insurance for the equipment
- Medical Insurance
- To provide training courses
- To provide discounts at professional stores, for items ranging from tapes to cameras
Another exciting aim is that part of the membership will be devoted for charitable work. That may include already established charitable organizations, to loans for cameramen to complete a course, or help with a medical problem.
In this growing and ever changing industry it is hard for one to stay on top. It’s hard to search the hundreds of specific pages to find stuff. We also need to continue growing as cameramen. We need to learn new techniques, new equipment, and new ways of thinking.
We are one of the top sources of information for already existing professionals and the new comers. We aim to have as members camera operator in all parts of the world. We also aim to become a standard resource for students.
I do wish you can join us
Yours truly
David Hands
